Balafon Beats with Mamadou Diabaté

Musician and composer Mamadou Diabaté shares his award-winning talents on the balafon, an instrument which resembles a xylophone with wooden sound bars that are reinforced with hollowed out gourds. Diabaté’s use of rhythm with the balafon’s unique sound creates a captivating musical experience. His music honors millennia-old West African culture and tells the stories of the Sambla people who live in 12 villages in Burkina Faso. This event is FREE, and tickets are not required.

Please note the location for this event has changed from previous advertisements. The Performance will be outside at Broad Street Park in Claremont.

Tomorrow! Benefit for the Claremont Creative Center

Pianist Sally Pinkas and Clarinetist Jan Halloran play 10/30/21 in Claremont, NH

Join us on October 30th, at 3pm, at the West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts (WCCMA) as we present a special concert featuring pianist, Sally Pinkas, and clarinetist Jan Halloran. This fundraiser event supports the construction and realization of West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts’ new, permanent home, in downtown Claremont, NH. The concert itself takes place in the parish hall, at Union Episcopal Church, 133 Old Church Road, Claremont, NH. The WCCMA’s new downtown home is not just a home for the WCCMA, but a home for the incubation, growth, and celebration of the arts for Claremont. We need you, as members of our community, to help us make this new home a reality, as we build for a bright future!

There are a very limited number of seats available in the concert hall, itself (for folks who are vaccinated, and masked). Online viewing passes are also available, and all tickets give you on-demand access to the concert after broadcast. Tickets are $110/per person, for in-hall seating, and $40/per person, for online viewing access, to support the arts center. Tickets are available through https://fallbenefit2021.eventbrite.com.

We are also delighted to share that all funds raised from this event (and all events supporting the WCCMA Homecoming Capital Campaign) will be matched at 50% by the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation up to $200,000. This means that the generosity of your contribution is amplified by theirs, bringing us even closer to our goal.

Sunday: Kinan Azmeh and Kyle Sanna

Azmeh’s expressive clarinet meets Kyle Sanna’s rustic guitar in this outdoor concert, part of WCCMA’s summer concert series. These two celebrated award-winning composers, improvisers and, most importantly, dear friends have been playing together for the past 18 years. They have toured the world together with the Kinan Azmeh CityBand among many other projects.  In this performance,  they return to Claremont with new original compositions inspired by a multitude of traditions for this intimate setting. A post-concert Q & A will follow the concert.

Registration suggested, but not required. Outdoors at Union Episcopal Church, or on YouTube. azmehsanna2021.eventbrite.com
