Friday! Windham Orchestra: Classics, Celebration and Claremont

November 14 Poster v7 copyThe Claremont 250th Committee would like to invite you to attend Friday’s concert, as well as a pre-concert lecture with Kinan Azmeh (the composer of the commissioned work for Claremont).

Classics, Celebration and Claremont

Friday, Nov 21, 7:30 pm, Claremont Opera House, Claremont, NH

Saturday, Nov 22, 7:30 pm, Brattleboro Area Middle School, Brattleboro, VT

The Windham Orchestra is delighted to perform at the Claremont (NH) Opera House as part of that city’s 250th Anniversary celebration and at the Brattleboro Area Middle School (**Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control, this is a new venue). Pre-concert lectures will be held on both evenings at 6:30pm. The concerts feature Claremont native Melissa Richmond as flute soloist in the premiere of “Concerto for Flute and String Orchestra”, written specifically for the occasion by Kinan Azmeh. Syrian born Azmeh came to New Hampshire to participate in the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music’s Playing for Peace program and now returns annually as a faculty member there. This concerto inaugurates a series of 4 works by composers with locals ties commissioned in honor of the Orchestra’s 45th season. Two symphonies at the heart of the Classical repertoire, Mozart’s “Paris” and Schubert’s “Unfinished”, complete the program.
