Japanese Taiko Drumming Workshops

Learn the art of Japanese Taiko Drumming with Sensei Stuart Paton of Burlington Taiko Group. Each workshop will also have a rehearsal the day of the Performance by Burlington Taiko Group. $25 suggested free will donation. Ages 10 and up, no experience required. Advanced registration is strongly suggested by emailing [email protected]

Join us for an all ages demonstration and workshop. Come try out the drums, and learn more about Taiko Drumming! Later that afternoon in Claremont you’ll be able to see a full performance of Taiko Drumming.

Claremont HopStops return: Uncle Rock: Rock ‘n’ roll music for young and old

Robert Burke Warren—dubbed “Uncle Rock” by his nephew—gets audiences up on their feet with his rootsy meets rock ‘n’ roll guitar music. This globe-trotting one-man band performs songs with lyrics about monsters, taking naps and recycling set to Buddy Holly and David Bowie-inspired music. Uncle Rock’s dynamic performances have won him fans all over the US, including praise from the Los Angeles Times and the The New York Times. Parents and kids alike will jump, shout and sing along with their newest (and favorite) relative.

The Claremont 250th Celebration is pleased to announce Taiko (Japanese drumming) workshops leading up to the Sept 20th Birthday in the Bricks festival. This program, facilitated by the West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts, will be offered Sept 17th through 19th with the Burlington Taiko Group. It is open to the community of Claremont and beyond. Participants will then be able to perform as a group just prior to the Burlington Taiko performance at the Birthday in the Bricks. Sessions will be offered afternoons at 12:30 and 3:30 at Claremont’s CSB Community Center, and Evenings at 6:30 at the Union Church Parish Hall (133 Old Church Rd in West Claremont). Membership is not required, and there is no required fee to join these workshops, but donations to help support the program are appreciated. Participation at all sessions is not required, but preference will be given to those who can attend all 3 days and the performance. More info can be found at wcc-ma.org and claremont250.com

Japanese Taiko Drumming is an exhilarating style of drumming that does not require you to have music experience, and is great for all ages. You can bring the whole family to participate together (suggested for ages 8 and up). This program is made possible in part through a grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA.org), and through a collaboration with Claremont Parks and Recreation.
