Monthly gathering of artists, musicians, and lovers of the arts. This is an open group for any that would like to share get out and meet the local creative minds. Join us for good food and conversation. The group will sometimes work together on community arts initiatives, and share local arts news.

Sculpting Workshop

6 – Week Sculpting Workshop
Begins Fridays, February 21 – March 28
7:00pm – 9:00pm
presented by West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts
at Union Church Hall, 133 Old Church Rd, Claremont NH

Join us for 6 weeks of sculpting with Ernest Montenegro (creator of the Claremont 250th Sculpture). No experience necessary. Space is limited. For ages 10 and up, families and adults are welcome. Suggested donation:

Individuals – $25 supplies + $90 class fee
Families (2 or more from the same household) – $25 Supplies + $60 class fee

Save $5 if you pay on or before the first class, payment plans and tuition assistance are available. This program is made possible in part by a grant from the NH State Council on the Arts. Registration required: contact [email protected].

Christmas with the Firehouse 6!

_MG_8766smEnjoy Holiday and Christmas favorites with some dixie twists, brass, and a side of banjo. Plus of course some of your Dixieland favorites! Local favorites the Firehouse Six Dixieland Band will charm you with their musical wit and variety. The decorations will be hung, making this a unique and festive event.

 

FIREHOUSE SIX DIXIELAND BAND
Dr. Don LaPlante, TUBA, has recently retired as the Superintendent of Schools in Hartford, VT. He holds a Bachelor of Music Ed. degree from Boston Univ. as well as a Masters degree in Administration from Boston Univ., and a PhD in School Administration from Univ. of Florida. He plays with the Claremont American Band as well as with the FHSDB.Vaughn Hadwen, TROMBONE, is a retired house painter. He is a former Army Band member, and performs with the Claremont American Band, the Springfield Community Band and the FHSDB.

Andy Buchan, PERCUSSION, was a percussion major at Western Connecticut State College and currently does a great deal of freelancing and is a full time piano tuner in the area. He has two grown children and lives in Charlestown with his wife, Lois.

George Parizo, BANJO, is a retired machinist supervisor. He performs with community bands in northern VT, the Springfield Community Band and the FHSDB.

Rich Brown, TRUMPET, has a Bachelor of Music Ed. degree from Oregon State Univ. and has returned to NH to teach music. He performs with the East Bay Jazz Ensemble, the Keene Big Band and the FHSDB.

Ed Evensen, CLARINET and SAX, has a Bachelor of Music Ed. degree from Boston Univ. and a Master of Science in Music Ed. degree from UNH. He currently teaches music in the Fall Mt. School Dist. He regularly performs with the East Bay Jazz Ensemble, substitutes in the Walt Sayre Orchestra and the Moonlighters Big Band, directs the Claremont American Band and the FHSDB, and directs and plays in many area music theater productions.
