Create art for Day of the Dead to add to our shrine and experience live mariachi music!
Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated by people of Mexican heritage. People make shrines to honor the deceased relatives featuring the person’s favorite food and drink, and gifts. This holiday is a joyful celebration of those who have passed instead of a day of mourning.
Participants will create their own ofrenda or offerings for our shrine in the Russo Atrium. Ofrenda commemorate and celebrate the lives of deceased relatives.
A mariachi performance by Dartmouth student Cesar Almeida Jr. will help us celebrate the holiday and enjoy traditional Mexican music. Learn to clap, stomp, sing and dance to traditional Mexican mariachi music.
All are welcome to this free family celebration.
Next up: Join WCCMA on Nov 9th with the Villalobos Brothers for a Music and Mask Making workshop, and the performance of Autumnal Traditions and Dia de Muertos at Union Episcopal Church.
