Ensemble Aubade performance Saturday at 7pm!

Join us for a great concert with Ensemble Aubade from Boston on Saturday, and celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Debussy’s Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp! The trio will perform Debussy, Ravel, and Speech (an American composer). Dr. Speech will be in attendance at the concert, and you will be invited to chat with her and the musicians after the concert. Admission is by donation for those able (made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts)

Earlier in the day there will also be an instrumental workshop (flute, harp, and piano) with members of the group and local students and adults. Auditor’s are welcome at this workshop, and a donation of $10 is suggest. More information can be found HERE.

Have you always wanted to play the harp, but don’t know where to start? Good news: Claremont’s popular Hands on Harps workshop is back! Join the West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts Monday, October 14, 6:30pm at Union Church to learn how to navigate a harp, some harp-y techniques, and play a simple tune.

No music experience necessary. Harps are provided; fee is by donation (suggested $10); class size is limited, and this workshop fills fast. Bach and Beyond: An Improv and Composition Workshop @ Union Church

By internationally acclaimed and well-travelled musicians Dinuk Wijeratne and Nick Halley. In an intensive 3-day workshop – and using the extraordinary Bach Canons as a foundation for performance, composition and improvisation – with an aim to broaden the skill set and imaginations of all participants. This program will combine group and one-on-one learning tailored to the individual’s goals and interests (including multiple styles of improvisation, composition, and performance techniques). Participants will work on elements of their project in-between meeting times, and the program will culminate in a showcase presenting work created in this weekend workshop.

Masterclass sessions: Workshops for Flute/Saxophone or Piano/Harp @ Union Church and Hall
Oct 3 (2-4pm tentative start time, based on number of participants)

Masterclass/workshop sessions with Boston musicians Peter Bloom (flute/saxophone) and Mary Jane Rupert (piano/harp). Participants are invited to sign up for a coaching slot and work one-on-one in a class setting with these outstanding musicians. Following the masterclass, an evening concert of music for Flute, Viola, and Harp will performed.

Chamber Music by European and American Masters @ Union Church

West Claremont Center for the Arts presents Boston’s Ensemble Aubade (Peter H. Bloom, flute; Francis Grimes, viola; and Mary Jane Rupert, harp) in a vivid concert of Chamber Music by European and American Masters. The esteemed trio, known for stellar musicianship and dramatic, engaging concerts, will perform Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Union Church, 133 Old Church Road, Claremont, New Hampshire. 7:15pm – 7:50 Meet and Tour – Stop by at the Common Man Inn, Claremont MakerSpace (Sawtooth Building), and Claremont Opera House to learn more about the history of these great gems.

8:00pm at the Visitor’s Center Green: Meet the Artist – Join us for a chat with sculptor Ernest Montenegro by the light of the “ourhandsthenandnow” sculpture he created as part of a commission by the Claremont 250th Celebration
