Saturday: Don’t Miss Castlebay Storytelling and Music

2014-04-26 Castlebay copy 2This Saturday, at 4pm! Storytelling and Music Duo Castlebay perform. We will offer finger foods for dinner, and weather permitting a campfire to make s’mores! Then we will come together for community music making (or listening) during the 6:30 workshop. The Campfire Songs workshop at 6:30p is open to all — singers, dancers, puppeteers, whistlers, drummers, listeners, etc. Find out more information by clicking HERE

Castlebay has been musically weaving together the heritage of New England and the Celtic lands since 1987. Members Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee have loved and researched traditional music for most of their lives and blend history, legend and experience into their personable performance style. Their concerts feature poignant ballads sung in Lane’s ethereal soprano and Gosbee’s rich baritone interspersed with joyous dance tunes played on Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle and tin whistle. Castlebay treats the audience to a musical journey through time and across the Atlantic.

Fee is by donation, suggested $5 per class; at the end of the first class, you’ll have the chance to rent your harp so that you can practice at home. To register contact [email protected], or call 603-558-8174. For more information, click HERE.

All are welcome at the Castlebay concert Saturday, April 26 at 4pm. The concert will be followed by an al fresco dinner (weather permitting), then a Campfire Songs workshop at 6:30 which is open to all singers, dancers, whistlers, puppeteers, and other fun-lovers! No advanced preparation is necessary for this workshop, unless you would like to join in on harp and don’t play it yet. For more about Castlebay, visit castlebay.net.
