Local Student Recital, Open house, and more!

Our emails have been a little quiet, but we have a tremendous year coming up for you. Here’s a few of the things coming right up:

This Saturday at 1pm, Local Student Recital: Harp, voice, and flute students perform a recital for the community. Find more information HERE.

Next week, on June 18th at 5:30pm we will be holding an Open House together with the Chamber’s Business After Hours. All are welcome to attend. We will have the historic Union Church open for visitors, light refreshments, and a very special music treat is planned. For more information, click HERE.

Save the Date: Popular performers Kinan Azmeh and Dinuk Wijeratne will return to perform as part of the Summer Concert Series on July 20th. We will also be holding our popular multicultural meal that evening.

We are working hard on several collaborative project with Claremont’s 250th Celebration. Check out the Claremont 250th section on our website. Several projects including the popular Burlington Taiko Residency, a performance by the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra on Claremont’s Birthday, and the world premiere of a new Orchestral piece by Kinan Azmeh will be a part of the celebration this fall.

Concert today! Modern Music For A Modern Age

2014-05-16 Organ Concert Poster Letter copyDon’t miss the performance on our newly rebuilt organ by the wonderful Rhonda Sider Edgington. Following the performance will be an educational program where the audience can interact with the performer and learn more about the organ as an instrument. Admission by donation.

The program, “Modern Music For A Modern Age,” explores the last century of organ music, proving that there is much more to this instrument than people might imagine.

Saturday: Don’t Miss Castlebay Storytelling and Music

2014-04-26 Castlebay copy 2This Saturday, at 4pm! Storytelling and Music Duo Castlebay perform. We will offer finger foods for dinner, and weather permitting a campfire to make s’mores! Then we will come together for community music making (or listening) during the 6:30 workshop.The Campfire Songs workshop at 6:30p is open to all — singers, dancers, puppeteers, whistlers, drummers, listeners, etc. Find out more information by clicking HERE

Castlebay has been musically weaving together the heritage of New England and the Celtic lands since 1987. Members Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee have loved and researched traditional music for most of their lives and blend history, legend and experience into their personable performance style. Their concerts feature poignant ballads sung in Lane’s ethereal soprano and Gosbee’s rich baritone interspersed with joyous dance tunes played on Celtic harp, guitar, fiddle and tin whistle. Castlebay treats the audience to a musical journey through time and across the Atlantic.

First Annual Mother's Day TeaTickets are still available for the Mother’s Day Tea  (a celebration of the women in our lives, but males are welcome). There will be gifts, prizes, activites for the kids, games, portraits available for purchase, and lots of delicious food and drinks. Tickets are $12 for Adults, Under 12 are $10.
