Concert friday and 3-days of Taiko this week!

It’s a big week this week!

Taiko Classes: Wednesday starts us off with 2 Taiko Classes with the fantastic Stuart Paton of Burlington Taiko. One will be held with Stevens High School students, and the other is a 2-day program open to the public. There are still spaces available, so sign up now by emailing [email protected]. Concert Friday: Friday all the hard work of students and community members will be ready, and a fabulous concert filled with Taiko and Japanese folk dancing open to be public will be performed at 7pm. Bring a chair and a warm jacket for this special outside concert. Hot food and beverages will be available to purchase at the concert. For more info: Click here

Pre-concert Buffet Dinner: Come early and enjoy a delicious Fall Comfort Buffet Dinner. Adults $8, under 12 $5. Discounts available on request for families of 3 or more. The meal will include homemade soup, mac and cheese donated by Simply Comfort, a sub donated by Best Subs, salad, casseroles, desserts and more, donated by the WCCMA Board and friends of WCCMA.

Taiko is fun and addicting, here is your chance to work with an amazing taiko professional! This class will be taught by Stuart Paton (Founder and Artistic Director of Burlington Taiko Group), in include 3 days of rehearsal. We have limited spaces, so participants must sign up by Monday, October 1st (if you miss the deadline, email or call us to see if there is space left). Priority is given to school aged students, and this program is designed for ages 9 and up (most younger students can still attend).

Want to participate?

The dates are October 3-4-5, and time/details are below. You will need to attend all three rehearsals to learn the piece for a performance on the last day. This class is free, but a donation in any amount to help support it is suggested.

This engaging program will end with you performing in a concert along with Stuart Paton Sensei, students, and adults from across the Claremont and the surrounding communities. The class will be taught by Stuart Paton of Burlington Taiko, who many saw perform at the Claremont Farmers’ Market program. The performance will be in a field outside under a tent (it will be chilly, so warm clothing will be a necessity!). The evening of the performance there will be a final rehearsal. WCCMA will be hosting a dinner buffet and hot snacks and beverages for your convenience should you decide to eat on site before the performance. Buffet discounts for families will be available.

Local Arts Fair: Now Accepting Applications

WCCMA is now accepting applications for its 2-day 2nd Annual Local Arts Fair. This event is a part of the NH Open Doors state-wide shopping event, and is a celebration of the artists and craftspeople creating in our community. Early Registration (pending vendor approval) ends Oct 15th.

When: November 3rd, 2012: 10-2pm; November 4th 11-3PM

How much: $15 early registration/$17 after October 15th for a table space up to 8 feet. This covers 2 days of participation. Add $5 if you need a table provided (other display types are welcome, pending approval). Discounts offered for vendors purchasing more than one table space. All vendors will be asked to donate (optional) a products for a raffle at the event.

Who are we?: The West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts, all fees benefit our community programs.

Who are they?: NH Open doors (www.nhopendoors.com) is an annual statewide arts, food, and lodging event that connects shoppers with local artists. Presented by NH Made, League of NH Craftsmen, and NH Cultural. Our fair will be listed on their publications, webpage, and maps.

Who should sign up?: Craftspeople and Artists of all disciplines. You must be the actual producer/craftsperson/owner who makes or creates the product or provides the service. There will be a limit to the number vendors of each discipline accepted, so sign up early!
