Beginner Harp Workshop: Join us for an introduction to the lever harp on April 29th! Don’t miss this rare opportunity to try out the harp, participate in a group lesson, and discover just how fun and easy it can be. Instructor Angela Biggs, soprano and harper, performs and teaches in Claremont and the wider area. In this class you will be able to get a basic introduction, as well as having the option of continuing on through private instruction, or with group workshops through WCCMA. If you decide to continue with the harp Angela will teach you to find your way around the harp, how to read music, harp hand position, basic techniques such as cross-overs and cross-unders, fundamental building blocks like intervals and arpeggios, harmonics and other fun effects.

Call for Artists; Call for Broken Instruments

Opus Arts project is seeking artists for a special public art tour. The theme is “music” and is intended to represent a meeting point or collision of visual arts and musical instruments. Artists will have the option of being provided with a broken musical instrument that they incorporate into their artwork in any way they like (this is not required).

The art will be sponsored by businesses around the city as part of an art and business tour of Claremont. It will remain on display between July and November with information about the artists. All art submitted is a donation to WCCMA, and will be auctioned off at a celebration and fundraiser in November. Professional and amateur artists are encouraged to apply, all ages are welcome (under 18 requires a parent’s permission). For more details or to apply: [email protected]

Instrument donations are also still needed! Donate broken, functioning, or parts from instruments. Working instruments will be loaned to students in need, broken ones will be turned into art.
