ArtEx: Basic Acting: Characters and Creatures

With instructor Mary Gaetz. We’ll focus on using movement and voice to explore ways to portray different people and animals you’d find in a story. Participants will learn some acting technique utilizing funny faces and sounds, use some of the warm ups, etc. from the Arts Ex session, and we’ll allow time for reflection and feedback at the end. The content will be geared for beginners—no experience necessary.

This program is presented as part of WCCMA’s Digital Arts Experiences, free learning resources for music, visual arts, theatre, and dance. Join the fun by visiting www.wcc-ma.org/ArtEx

ArtEx is sponsored in part by the Our Kids Commission of the NH Episcopal Diocese, supporting projects that help to bridge the opportunity gap for all our kids, the NH State Council on the Arts, and the New England Foundation for the Arts.

Francesca Anderegg, violin: Invisible Threads (Augmented Reality Concert)

Violinist Francesca Anderegg joins us “at” WCCMA’s home at Union Church for a program of musical connections in a time of disconnection.

Violinist Francesca Anderegg joins us virtually “at” WCCMA’s home Union Episcopal Church through the magic of technology. At a time when the challenge of isolation is deeply felt in daily life, music helps us weave “invisible threads” of connection among composers, artists and audiences. For this program, Francesca will weave together music by contemporary and Baroque composers, each one representing a personal vision and unique subject. Gillian Whitehead’s music draws upon the natural landscapes of her native New Zealand, and Bright Silence depicts the “sounds, silences, and ghosts” of the rocky plateau of Central Otago. Missy Mazzoli’s work Dissolve, O My Heart, is a direct, personal response to the enduring power of Bach’s Chaconne. Like all modern solo violin music, the technical demands and musical textures of these pieces pay homage to Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin. The program concludes with Bach’s majestic Partita No. 2 in D minor, with Mazzoli’s work connecting the contemporary and the Baroque.

Francesca Anderegg will join us after the performance on zoom for a post concert chat at 9PM.

This event is presented by West Claremont Center for Music and the Arts. Concert tickets are $25, or $15 for WCCMA members.

Scholarship tickets are available for students and those for whom the cost would be a challenge. To request Student or Scholarship Tickets: https://forms.gle/kCQNxrYShgLtkrWUA

This program will be presented in Augmented Reality from your smart device. The artist’s “hologram” will be projected onto a 360 degree image of WCCMA’s concert hall. You’ll be able to look around the space, move closer, etc, just as though you are there. For those without supported devices you’ll be able to join us via video link. Headphones are strongly recommended for optimal audio experience.
