Beginner Harp Workshop

Join us for an opportunity to try out the harp, participate in a group lesson, and discover just how fun and easy it can be. Instructor Angela Biggs (soprano and harper) performs and teaches in Claremont and the wider area. In this class you will be able to get a basic introduction, as well as having the option of continuing on through private instruction, or with group workshops through WCCMA. If you decide to continue with the harp Angela will teach you to find your way around the harp, how to read music, harp hand position, basic techniques such as cross-overs and cross-unders, fundamental building blocks like intervals and arpeggios, harmonics and other fun effects. Harps will be provided, but if you have a harp you are welcome to bring it.

Concert: Melissa Richmond, flute

August brings the final two concerts of the series. Claremont resident and native Melissa Richmond will perform a selection of popular flute repertoire as well as special contemporary music on Saturday, August 10th at 3pm. Guest performers will include soprano and harper Angela Biggs, Chris Cheon on piano, and a special youth performer.

Complex Stories, Simple Sounds

Kinan Azmeh, clarinet, and Dinuk Wijeratne, piano, bring a beautiful, and at times haunting performance to the Summer Concert Series. Come and allow yourself to be swept away by their fusion of jazz, classical, and world music traditions. As composers the music mirrors their talent and diverse musical interests. Improvisation is a major element in their performance making each concert a truly unique experience.

Make sure to come early for our delicious multi-cultural buffet at 6:00pm.
