Each year\, Yankee Brass Band entertains audiences throughout N ew England and champions the cause of “historically informed performance” within the field of American band music. Using rare and authentic period i nstruments\, and outfitted in appropriate uniforms\, the Yankee Brass Band presents the music of the “Golden Age of Bands” in much the same manner a s in the mid to late 19th century.

About Yankee Brass Band

Sin ce 1986\, the Yankee Brass Band has entertained audiences in New England a nd beyond with historically informed performances of nineteenth-century Am erican brass band music. Using antique brass and percussion instruments fr om the period\, painstakingly restored by their owners\, the Yankee Brass Band presents the music of the “Golden Age of Bands” played in much the sa me manner as in the mid- to late nineteenth century.

To recreate t his music\, the band plays close attention to the aesthetics\, performance practice\, and concert attire of an earlier time. For one week each summe r\, the members of the Yankee Brass Band assemble from across the country to preserve this unique musical legacy through a series of live performanc es. Each year’s tour repertoire is developed through careful study of peri od programs\, personal papers\, manuscripts\, and early printed music\, al ong with all sorts of band ephemera.

The musicians of the Yankee B rass Band volunteer their time and talents to bring this music to life. Th e band is supported by the generosity of tour hosts\, donations\, and Frie nds of the Yankee Brass\, Inc (a 501(c)(3) organization).
