Hailed as a “virtuoso” by the New York Times, and “engagingly flamboyant” by the L.A. Times, Kinan Azmeh is one of Syria’s rising young stars. His utterly distinctive sound is now fast gaining international recognition. As one of the most eclectic talents of Canada’s new generation, Sri Lankan-born Dinuk Wijeratne was recently praised by the CBC as an artist “internationally respected for his virtuosity and sensitivity as a musician”. In redefining the sound of the piano he has been captivating audiences with his poetry and imagination. The music, a unique mixture of improvisation, jazz, Arabic and Southeast Asian ideas, may be difficult to describe in few words but is simple for the ear to savor.

In recent years they have been heard at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco, and across the Middle East, Europe, and Canada.  This upcoming concert in the historical church building will offer a unique intimate concert setting with excellent acoustics. For more information about the artists: kinanazmeh.com; dinukwijeratne.com.
